Steps to increase processing speed of any Windows XP pc -


  1. Start > Run
  2. In the box that opens, type - Prefetch
  3. click OK
  4. In the window that opens, in the top left, click Select All
  5. press 'delete' button on your keyboard
  6. a pop up will open asking you if you want to send all files to Recycle Bin
  7. click 'Yes'
  8. now, go to start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup
  9. click Disk Cleanup

  10. (if Disk Cleanup is not included in System Tools, follow the below steps...
    1. Start > Run
    2. In the box that opens, type - cleanmgr
    3. click OK
    4. )
  11. Select Drive window will open
  12. click OK
  13. wait for few minutes
  14. Disk Cleanup for (C:) window will open
  15. put checkmark in the boxes next to Temporary Internet Files, Recycle Bin, Temporary Files only
  16. click OK
  17. window will open saying 'Are You Sure You Want To Perform These Actions ?'
  18. click Yes
  19. now, Start > Run
  20. In the box that opens, type - msconfig
  21. click OK
  22. System Configuration Utility window will open
  23. in the top right, click Services tab
  24. in bottom left, put check mark in box against Hide All Microsoft Services
  25. then, in the bottom right, click Disable All
  26. now, on top right, click Startup tab
  27. click Disable All
  28. in the left side, there is a column called Startup Item
  29. in that, put a check mark against ccapp, ctfmon, cpqset, hpwuschd2, hpcmpmgr (All of these may not be seen)
  30. click Apply
  31. click Close
  32. System Configuration window opens
  33. click Restart
  34. after system restarts, you will see System Configuration Utility window opens up on your desktop automatically
  35. in that, put checkmark against this message…
    'Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when window starts
  36. click OK
