=>Airbus 380 (world's tallest and largest double-decker $300 million plane) is coming to India (May 2007) which can seat up to 555 passengers but in all economy configuration it can pack in 800 people. It will be running flights from New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore (direct flight to San Francisco) and is being brought in by Kingfisher Airlines (and Airbus) on lease. Airbus will invest $1 billion(for training, maintenance and a design center) in India in the next decade.

=>United Spirits Ltd (owned by Vijay Mallya, chairman of the UB Group) has acquired 100 per cent of Scotch distillers Whyte & Mackay for £ 595 million ($1.18 billion) in an all-cash deal in 2007. This has made United Spirits the world's second largest spirits company and a major player in the Scotch whisky business which is only produced in Scotland.

=>Tata Motors is developing a car that it will sell for $2,500 (Rs 100,000) similar to Ford's Model T, Volkswagen's Beetle and British Motor Corp.'s Mini.

=>India's biotech sector will become $5 billion industry by 2010 at a rate of 35% annual growth.

=>16th TANA (Telugu Association of North America set up to preserve Telugu cultural heritage, maintain the identity of the people and to provide a forum for Telugu literary talent in the US) conference will be held in Washington D.C. from July 5-7, 2007.

=>The proposed 50:50 joint venture between Wal-Mart (world's largest retailer) and Bharti Enterprises is targeting prices up to 25 per cent cheaper than other wholesalers in India. This joint venture would be able to cut prices of agricultural products by 10-15 per cent, branded fast moving consumer goods by 5-10 per cent, textiles by 10-15 per cent, electronics by 5-7 per cent and by 25 per cent for items like televisions and refrigerators due to high supply chain efficiencies (like on logistics and transportation) by localising their entire operation (90% of the goods sold in their outlet with be sourced from nearby Indian cities).

=>New Delhi and Bangalore railway stations (and 48 others) will now have Wi-Max (worldwide interoperability for microwave access) technology-based Internet. Wi-Max is an advanced version of the Wireless Fidelity or Wi-Fi technology, as it can provide broadband facility to a larger area, from 5 km to 10 km.
